Thanks filled Sundays

- I love (most of the time) Grace's curiosity. During her 2 year check up she passed time playing with all the keys and locks to cabinets in the newly remodeled exam room.

- I love how excited kids can get when experiencing something for the first time. The kids got to ride the train in Hermann Park for the first time (thanks to a friend turning 2 and celebrating with a ride on the train). Matthew enjoyed the light breeze (note: it was 75 degrees in Feb!) and Grace was giddy with excitement. Ever since Matthew was gifted with some "Thomas the Train" books, Grace has been fascinated with trains!

- I also love how excited kids can get seeing things they love over and over again. After riding the train, we headed over to the zoo. Grace told me she wanted to see the mandrils (the primates with the painted faces and pink bottoms). Once we finally arrived she did a happy dance!

- It's so cool watching a baby grow more aware of his surroundings. Lately, Matthew has been getting distracted when eating in a noisy, crowded place which unfortunately has been including home at times too. Usually it is Grace who distracts him from eating. He'll pull away, look up at Grace and smile at her!

- I'm encouraged that time-out seems to be working. After getting Grace out of time-out, unprompted she said, "I sorry I tooken da Baby Matthew paci[fier].". (Incidentally, she didn't just steal his pacifier. She took it while he was asleep in his crib and stuck it in her mouth, thus waking him from his nap!)

- I'm thankful for hydrocortisone cream. Poor Matthew has had a rash on his forehead and head for several weeks now that apparently is itchy because each morning he would wake up looking like he'd been in a cat fight. I was at a playdate with a pediatrician friend Monday and she recommended the hydrocortisone and it worked!

- I continue to be delighted by Grace's growing memory for things. This week, one of her buddies was coming over to play and she said something about dinosaurs and butterflies, which are things we saw at the museum last time we saw her friend! And apparently her friend said the same thing to her mom on the way over to our house! How funny is that?

- I am tickled at how Matthew's displeasure for tummy time yesterday caused him to roll over for the first time! And he repeated his performance three more times in the same day!
