February

February flew by, so sorry for the late posting!

- Grace said to me one day, "Thank you for teaching me to pour milk!"  Just goes to show being a mom is about the little things!

- Matthew loves his food and frequently tells me with great enthusiasm, "Thank you for breakfast!"

- When we were shopping for Valentine's Day stickers for school I noted, "Those are kind of girly."  Then Grace pointed to others and said, "Those are kind of boy-ly!"

- A conversation with Matthew:
Matthew: "Mommy where is other?"
Me: "Other what?"
Matthew:  "That!"
Me: "Oh!  The hair drier.  It died so i got a new one."
Grace: "It's beautiful!  (Old one was gray, new is bright red.)"

- It's official!  Grace now knows how to lie.  Lately it's involved her undressing her brother.  I guess she thinks its funny when he's naked.  But, the latest shenanigan put mommy over the edge.  She got Matthew to pull down his pants, pee into an empty toy bin in his room and then she poured the pee on the carpet and blamed it all on him!  There were many consequences for these actions for both kids and I'm in hopes it will squelch the lying for a little while and make Matthew a less willing participant.

- While Grace was cuddling with me one morning she said, "You might need to shave your legs."

- Another conversation with Matthew:
Matthew: "Mommy, where is your flower shirt?"
Me: "What flower shirt?"
Matthew: repeats same thing 2 more times.
Me: then I realize that I have 2 shirts that are the same color, but one has a flower detail and the other (the one I was wearing) did not.  "Oh, i wore that one a few days ago.  It's dirty.
Matthew: "Why?"
...and so on.

- Matthew loves salsa so much that one day he asked to dip his almond butter and jelly sandwich in it!

- Lately when Grace gets in trouble she says, "...but you still love me!"   It's great to know that she is secure in my love for her, but none-the-less infuriating!

- Matthew's love for music has continued to persist.  One while we were up at church I noticed people walking in with violin cases and promised we would stop in to listen after our engagement.  It turned out to be a rehearsal for a local chamber orchestra and Matthew was thrilled.  We took a seat on the last pew and Matthew said, "I want to go closely!"  In other words, he wanted to get closer.

- A conversation with Grace and Daddy.
Grace: "Daddy, were you a prince before you got married?"
Jeff: "Your mommy thought so!"

- In the car I asked Grace if she liked classical music (she had requested the classical station).  She said "Yes."  Then I asked her what her favorite instruments were of the ones she knows.  She said, "Guitar and piano.  I might want to learn guitar and piano."

- On go-Texan day, Grace was talking about a "dan-bama"....apparently that was her word for bandana.

- Grace: "When Matthew and I are older, we're going to adopt a boy and name him Flounder and the girl will be Ariel."
