October musings

- Matthew loves putting my earplugs into the "pocket" (a little film canister type container).  One day he indicated he was ready for me to wake up by saying "pocket, I want it" multiple times and then pulling the earplugs out of my ears!

- When Grace refuses to share, part of her punishment is reading "Llama, Llama Time To Share".  She doesn't like reading the book because she hates seeing the toy llama's arm rip off when two kids are playing tug-of-war with it.  Glad it makes an impact on her!

- I don't know if this is normal or not, but Grace loves having her tummy and her "underarm pitties" tickled before bed or after naptime.  This seems to be the ultimate form of love in her eyes!

- Matthew sang Twinkle to his class all by himself!

- A typical morning in our house starts with Matthew yelling, "Awake Mommy!"  As soon as he hears Grace stir he says, "Grace awake!" and runs into her room to tell her, "Good morning, Grace!" and tries to give her a hug but usually Grace pushes him off.

- At bedtime, Grace loves reading a book together as a family and calls it "family story"; Each kid chooses a book and we pile on the couch.  One time Matthew wasn't interested in Grace's book, so to distract me from reading, he climbed in my lap facing me and started kissing me all over my face!  After stories, we sing the Lords' Prayer together (a rather boisterous version) and both kids insist on saying goodnight to each other several times which usually involves a tackle/hug where they end up on the floor.  I'm so thankful they love each other so much!

- Matthew ate a real yogurt and had no allergic reaction! 10/19

- Matthew drank cows milk and had no allergic reaction! 10/21

- Matthew "performed" on stage with the band at church with his own guitar! 10/27  (video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BH9FX5rtpE&list=PL2994ADA94034094F)

- Matthew woke up an hour before wake-up and when Jeff checked on him he said, "Second blanket."  Jeff pulled his blanket up over him, but Matthew pointed to the drawer with extra blankets and again said, "Second blanket!  Right there."  Jeff got the hint and Matthew went back to sleep a little warmer.

- Each morning Matthew wakes and Jeff isn't home, he says, "I missing Daddy!"

- When Grace is under the weather, she says, "I'm not feeling really good."

- Day 7 of Matthew using potty, I hear him say, " Go potty!  Go potty!" and find he has already stripped off his shorts and underwear and is running to the bathroom.  He took the appropriate seat in the bathroom and used the potty.  I was so proud!

Potty adventures with Matthew:

- Matthew woke with a dry diaper and peed in the potty! 10/15

- Matthew peed twice and pooped twice in the potty!  10/16

- Matthew peed at wake up in the potty, pooped 3 times in the potty (3rd time asked to use the potty mid-action).  I think it's time to start potty training! 10/17

- Armed with a little potty, sanitizing spray, paper towels, training underwear, pull-ups, chocolate milk, pretzels and match-box cars...now let the potty training for Matthew begin!  Grace was a great cheer leader and very excited by each of his successes.  10/25

- Matthew was fully potty trained in less than a week!  Only accidents were from overshooting the toilet seat.  He even sleeps through the night without accidents...actually waking an hour early asking to pee and then sleeping another hour.  Grace has yet to do this...even at nap time!
