May update

- Matthew is becoming more independent and wiggly.  He's decided that he doesn't like brushing his teeth anymore, getting dressed or having his diaper changed.  So I have to hold him in a head-lock (sort of) to brush his teeth, wrestle him like a calf to get his clothes, and put him on the floor with one leg over his torso to change his diapers most days.  Ironically, he likes to help me brush my teeth and even pats the toilet seat, indicating that he wants me to sit down so that he can help brush my teeth! Thankfully he loves shoes, so he'll sit patiently while I get those on him.

- Grace "mothered" me for the first time by trying to pick "white stuff" off my face.

- Matthew started spotting airplanes and can say airp[l]ane.  He also says "Choo-choo" anytime he hears a train.

- Grace got out the blue "yogurt mat" to exercise with Mommy.  She's probably much better at yoga than me!

- Matthew slept with a doll (the one Grace named Matthew) once this month.

- The toy that the kids fight over the most is the baby doll stroller.

- I found Grace in the bathroom perched on the toilet lid with her big toe in her mouth.  When I asked her what she was doing, she said she had a sharp toe nail that needed to be trimmed.  I knew she was a nail biter, but not a toenail biter!

- Matthew twisted open a round door knob and opened a door for the first time.

- Grace is quite good at picking up her toys now, when she wants to.  I've also heard her tell Matthew how she is "organizing" her things.  I'm not sure if it's nature or nurture, but Grace certainly has a lot of my traits (organizing being one of them).

- Matthew proactively set the table with utensils all by himself.  The intention was definitely better than the execution, but I thought it was wonderful that he wanted to participate and help with preparing a meal!

- Grace has been a bit of a hypochondriac lately, complaining of headaches, ear aches, tummy aches, and saying she's going throw up because of those green beans she ate!  She also tells me she'll have to go see Dr. Sara if she doesn't feel better in the morning.  At least she's not afraid of the doctor!

- Grace voluntarily gave me her Hello Kitty to put in timeout for disobeying mommy.  (Putting a favorite toy in timeout has been an alternate punishment that has had some success as of late.)  She even said that she wouldn't cry at bedtime when she couldn't have Hello Kitty, but she forgot by that time and cried anyway.

- Grace discovered she can open the refrigerator and freezer by herself.  I might need to think about rearranging some things soon!

- Matthew copies Grace and pulls up his little step stool to anything in the kitchen that interests him.  Did I mention that he can say "knife"?!

- Grace's favorite excuse these days for misbehaving is "because you weren't here/watching."  Needless to say, I've been telling her that she should behave whether or not I'm watching.  I also remind her on occasion that God is watching ALL the time and she should want to please God.
