Grace is happy to be 3!

It's officialy, Grace is now 3!  Her birthday was January 29th, but we had a small celebration at home on February 2nd.  She had a fantastic time.  Here is the happy birthday girl on the day of her celebration (which by the way was sunny and in the 70s...unusual for this time of the year in Houston).

Party guests included: Matthew, Helen, Silas, Sophie, Grace (the b-day girl) and Gail.

- Although she just turned 3, it seems that Grace has been 3 for a while given her challenging nature these days.  She does not take "no" for an answer very well (depending on the situation you could call this stubborn or persistant).  She also enjoys making earsplitting sounds (screams/yells) and spitting just for fun.  This is especially fun when trapped in a car on the freeway.  However, despite these frustrations she is a joy and full of life and energy.  We count everyday with her as a blessing.

- Grace's pretend play has really blossomed.  She has been playing with her dolls more and more and also loves playing with her doctor's kit.  She thinks that juice makes sick kids feel better and that preschool teachers have a cool job because they get to change diapers!

- Per Grace after giving one of her dolls a check-up, "He was a good check-uper and didn't cry at all, so he got a sticker!   Now, I'm going to go check his teeth."

- For the past week or so, Grace has been asking me who has a penis and who doesn't.  After a birthday party one day, she asked, "Does ____ (boy) had a penis?"  I said yes, "All boys have penises."  Then she said, "Does ____'s daddy have a hairy penis?"  This seems to be a daily conversation we have these days, usually at the lunch table.

- Grace seems to have an affinity for boys.  I'm not sure if it's always been that way or it's been magnified by the fact that her class has 2 girls and 7 boys, but they seem to be all she talks about after school.  She especially loves her classmates' older brothers and talks about them alot.
